Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved, Martha Olga Hernandez, who peacefully met the arms of our Lord at home on August 29, 2026, surrounded by her husband and children. Martha was born to Abel R. and Olga S. Ledesma on December 16, 1957, and was raised in San Antonio, Texas. She was the youngest of four siblings.

As a child, Martha attended St. Mary's Parochial School Downtown and later Providence High School where she became a proud graduate of the Class of 1975. At the tender age of 18, Martha met the love of her life and was married on June 11, 1978, to Gary A. Hernandez in San Antonio, TX where they raised two daughters and shared 48 years of life and love. Straight out of high school, Martha began a career at Southwestern Bell, which later became AT&T, and remained a loyal and dedicated employee until the fall of 2009.

Martha was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, known for her love of family and always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a beacon of kindness, strength and wisdom, touching countless lives with her gentle spirit and unwavering love and support. Following her retirement, Martha took great joy in caring for her grandchildren, supporting them in their numerous activities, and maintaining her home that she was so incredibly proud of. Martha loved to travel to the coast to fish with her family, craft seasonal décor for her home, plan the next family gathering, or any celebration that she was blessed to be a part of. Martha led the simplest life but was incredibly rich in love and the love that she gave.

Martha was preceded in death by her sister Carmen J. Rodriguez and her parents Abel R. and Olga S. Ledesma. She is survived by her loving husband Gary, daughters Marisa (Jose), Monica (Albert); cherished grandchildren, Albert, Francesca, Lucas, Andrew, Mia; her sister Mary Botello, brother, Edward Ledesma, and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the staff of Warm Springs Rehabilitation and VITAS Healthcare who provided Martha with incredible support and care throughout her recovery and in her final days.

Martha's family is incredibly heartbroken by her passing but grateful for the tremendous life that she created, lived and shared. She was a woman of faith, and we are comforted that she has been made whole and is reunited with the family she's missed and loved. Martha's memory and legacy will continue to live on through her family and in the many lives that she has touched.
