Maria "Lucy" Soto Padilla, 98, passed away on January 3, 2018. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 31, 1919 to Viviano Soto and Remedios Garcia.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Padilla, sister Elvira Balderas, niece Yolanda Cervera, and nephew Gilbert Franco.

She is survived by her nieces Rose DeLaGarza and husband Rey and Sylvia Lopez and husband Rick, great nephews and niece Reagan and Ramsey DeLaGarza and Humberto, James and Debra Cervera. She was the most loving aunt.

Lucy was a twenty five year employee of the Melville Corporation. She began her career in 1949 as the only female associate selling men's shoes. She worked at various Thom McAn retail shoe stores in the San Antonio area until she retired. The family extends its gratitude to Dr. Carlos Roldan and the Kindred Hospice staff, to her caregivers Teresa and Lluvia Sanchez and to Elvie Martinez of CHRC.

Visitation will begin on Sunday, January 14, at 4:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 5:00 P.M. at the Angelus Chapel. Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, January 15, at 8:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
