Maria Luisa Montemayor age 99 of San Antonio, Texas passed Tuesday August 21, 2018. Maria Luisa was born in Brownsville, Texas, married and lived in Corpus Christi before moving to San Antonio with her husband and children. Maria Luisa loved gardening and doing word search puzzles. She was kind to all and was beloved. She was the matriarch of the family and always had a smile on her face.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan E. Montemayor, sons Juan V. Montemayor, Santiago Montemayor and Richard Montemayor. She was also preceded in death by her parents Juan Zapata and Marta Balboa Zapata; sisters, Tomasa Rodriguez, Josefa Martinez and brother, Vicente Zapata.

Maria Luisa is survived by her son Carlos Montemayor and daughter, Amanda Montemayor; grandchildren: Diana, Raymond, Rick, Johnny, Lisa, Andy, Rita, Carlos Jr., David, James, Chris, Yvonne, Ricky, Michelle, Michael and Marisa. She also had 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 26, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm at Angelus Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Monday, August 27, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery # 2.
