Maria Louisa "Mary" Martinez, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 28, 2025. She passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable generosity.
Mary was the heart of her family. She loved reading, traveling, celebrating every milestone, and bringing people together—whether it was to welcome a new baby, honor a birthday, attend graduations and award ceremonies, or simply enjoy time with those she loved. She remembered everyone's birthday and had a special way of making every person she met feel like family. Hosting gatherings and giving personalized, meaningful gifts brought her tremendous joy.
Born on September 27, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, Mary lived a life filled with deep devotion to her family and to her best friends, who were also her beloved sisters.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Antonia F. and Robert P. Davila, and by her cherished daughter, Jennifer M. Velasco. We take comfort in believing they are joyfully reunited in heaven.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Fred Martinez Jr.; her son, Fred S. Martinez III; her daughter, Lisa Maldonado and husband Rick; and her grandchildren: Gianna Maldonado, Ricky Maldonado, Marina Maldonado, Jessica Velasco, Zachary Velasco, Lauren Martinez, and Vanessa Martinez. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren and two granddogs.
Her memory will be forever treasured by her loving sisters—Gloria D. Hernandez and husband Abel, Dolores Davila and husband Larry, and Pat Espinosa and husband Albert—as well as by her brothers, Bob and Frank Davila. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, in-laws, and cousins who adored her.
Mary was the rock for those who needed support and the best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, and sister-in-law one could ever hope for. Her love for her family was unparalleled. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
Her radiant smile, her love of life, her strong spirit, and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel cherished will be deeply missed—and never forgotten.
