Maria de Jesus Gonzalez age 97 of San Antonio passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020.  Maria was born August 1, 1922 and at an early age she left school to help raise her siblings. Since then she continued to be a mother-like figure to many.

Maria enjoyed being a housewife, she was always in the kitchen cooking and baking. She was a devout Catholic, watched Mass on TV, prayed her Rosary and read her prayer book every day.  Maria was widowed for 40 years. We were all very blessed to have had her for 97 years.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Raul Gonzalez; daughter, Carmen Gonzalez, father, Concepcion Espinosa, mother, Sixta Espinosa, brothers: Federico Espinoza and Jose R. Espinosa, sister, Pat Nino.

She is survived by daughter, Gloria Barrientes; son, Raul E. Gonzalez and wife Maria; grandchildren: Veronica Fernandez and husband Lawrence, Steven Gonzalez, Miranda Durda and husband Ernest, Raul C Gonzalez III and wife Jeannette, Stephanie Barrientes, Jennifer Tamez and husband Ramiro, Marissa Barrientes; and 16 great grandchildren; brothers: Felix R Espinoza, Louis R Espinosa;numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to the current restrictions, funeral services will be held privately.
