Obituary

Maria Guadalupe López Hernández was born on November 9th, 1922 to Guadalupe Hernández and Félix López in a ranch outside the town of Jesús Maria in Jalisco, Mexico. She was one of seven children, siblings include José, Salvador, Jesús, Luz, Pascual and Miguel.

At the age of twenty-four, she married Pablo López and moved to San Antonio, Texas where she raised her five children; Ysabel, Salvador, José, Arturo, and Rosalinda.

As a woman of profound dignity and faith, Maria Guadalupe López Hernández performed the roles of mother and grandmother with grace and love. She raised her children to be proud of their Mexican culture and Catholic faith, and encouraged them all through the successes they would find as adults. She was the heart of the family and found joy being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Christmas, Easter, birthdays, and tamaladas were always celebrated in her family home. Maria Guadalupe was skilled at anything she put her hands on including cooking, sewing, tapestry making and gardening.

In fact, she made a baby blanket for every one of her grandchildren. She was also devout Catholic and member of St. Ann Church. Her faith was evident in how she regularly prayed the rosary and read devotionals, went to church every single Sunday, and even served as a Guadalupana at St Ann.

In November of 2022, she celebrated one hundred years of life surrounded by family and loved ones. The family and home that she built with pride will carry on for generations to come. Maria Guadalupe passed away on January 15, 2023 surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her three sons and a daughter, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews all of which dearly loved her.
