Maria Evangelina was born on May 28th to Jose and Josefa Casillas. Maria was the youngest of 8 children, 6 girls and 2 boys. She was also the baby of the family and was lovingly known as "Mita".
Our beloved Mita unexpectedly passed away Saturday, December 30th, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Josefa Casillas, her brother Frank P. Casillas, sisters Beatrice Casillas, Susan Lagunas, Mary Casillas, Guadalupe Casillas, and nephew Alex Lagunas.
She will be remembered lovingly by her remaining siblings, Joe Casillas, Lily Casillas, and Sally Casillas. As well as her nieces and nephews who include Jennifer Casillas-Gutierrez, Arthur and Fela Lagunas, Linda and Rusty Henley, Judy Lagunas, Alexa Lagunas, Lisa and John Valdez, Catherine and Michael Hernandez, Denise and George Salazar, and Frank M. Casillas. Her many great-nephews and great-nieces, whom she loved very much, will also miss her tremendously.
Nothing was more important to Mita than her family. She adored her siblings and the many nephews and nieces who also became her best friends because they were so close to her in age.
She was an avid collector of beautiful jewelry, dolls, ceramic figurines, and stuffed animals of all sorts. Her vast collection of both Barbie dolls and baby dolls could rival no other. She was the biggest animal lover you'd ever meet and was always surrounded by her kitties and doggies. Mita, we are all missing you so much! But we are also so grateful you have found your peace and happiness in heaven with those you've missed the most.
