Our Lord has called His faithful daughter, Maria Rosa Davila Tobias, to her eternal home on July 14, 2024, at the age of 89 while surrounded by her loving family.
Maria Rosa was born in 1935 in Crystal City, Texas as the youngest of 9 children born to Enrique Davila, Sr. and Josefina Santos Davila. She was a beloved wife of 59 years to her late husband, Hilario C. Tobias, who preceded her in death, along with her seven brothers: Jose, Alberto, Manuel, Luis, Enrique Jr., Leopoldo, and Hector. She is survived by her cherished sister, Beatriz Davila Morales and her loving children: Mario and Kim Tobias, Monica and Jamie Olis, Leticia and Alfred Joseph Bohne, Sonia and Jon Jaimes, Angela and Chris Garcia, Victor Tobias and Cindy Rositas.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jonathan, Christopher, Nicholas, Nathanial, Lauren, Victoria, Bianca, Olivia, Josephine, Aiden, Evan, Joseph, Arya, and Solvey; and her great-grandchild, Ellie. They will carry forward her legacy of kindness, generosity, joyous spirit, and fearlessness.
Maria Rosa graduated from Providence High School in San Antonio and began her career at Kelly Air Force Base, where she met her future husband, Hilario Tobias on a date arranged by friends. They married in 1962 and raised six children together. Maria Rosa devotedly cared for her father and grandmother until their passing. After 42 years of dedicated service at Kelly Air Force Base, she retired and poured her seemingly boundless energy and strength into her family, helping others, volunteering in her community and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Maria Rosa embraced life with a spirit of adventure, humor and generosity. Her vibrant personality, energy, grace and deep faith were evident in all she did. She enjoyed traveling, crafting, and gardening, with her greatest joy found in spending time with her family. Her unwavering dedication to family and friends, and her love and confidence in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild were a gift to us every day of her life.
She will always be our guardian, guide, and tireless protector in Heaven. Her legacy of her independent spirit; strength and humor through hardships; and her grace, dignity and devotion to family will forever inspire her family and loved ones.
