Maria Pura Arciniega passed peacefully from this world on Monday, July 20 ^th at the age of 94.

Maria married the love of her life John Arciniega and spent 61 years married to him before he passed away in 2007.  She lost her only daughter Carolina Montalvo at a very young age and devoted the rest of her life to raising her granddaughter Trina.

She worked her entire life as a seamstress and was known for being able to create the most elaborate gowns or even Halloween costumes from just a picture.  Her work along with her willingness to help with anything at church or with family made her an honorary mom and grandma to many.  She and her husband always found a way to help someone in need even when they had very little to give.

She was known for her strength, honesty and for being devoted to church and family.  She spent many years as a devoted parishioner at St. Patrick's Catholic Church where she was a member of the Guadalupanas.

She is survived by her son PJ Arciniega (Rachel); granddaughter, Trina Solis and her husband Arnold, and her two great grandchildren Ilana and Elian Solis.

The family must regretfully limit attendance at the funeral services to immediate family due to health and safety concerns.  Services at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will be held privately.
