Margarito, otherwise fondly known as "Mague" or "Margo" by friends and family, was born June 27, 1940, in Seguin, Texas, to Catarino and Julia Medina. Mague graduated from Fox Tech High School and joined the Air Force after graduation.
In the Air Force, Mague was trained in electronics, which led to his later employment at Kelly Air Force Base where he worked in the electronics (1827EIS) squadron. Mague also enrolled in college part time until he obtained his degree in Business Administration from Southwest Texas State College.
After acquiring his degree, he became an electronic supervisor, and later, an 1827EIS Radar Chief. During this period, he was assigned TDY duty which had him travel all around the world, including across the United States, and throughout Central and South America, Europe, and Asia. He developed a sophisticated taste for great wine and cuisine, Chivas Regal scotch, and Lladro figurines. He enjoyed exploring the vast histories and cultures of the world, collecting keepsakes and mementos from the many countries he visited. He deeply loved his job and all the people he worked with and met along the way.
In his spare time, he was fond of hunting and fishing, but his greatest love of all was always golf. Mague could play from sun up to sun down, and also participated in many tournaments at some of the most distinguished and elite courses around the world.
Margarito is survived by two brothers, Ramiro and Efrain Medina. All other siblings, Carolina Ramirez, Virginia Barrios, Rosa Olivares, Ercilia Jimenez, Jesus Medina, Juan Medina, Catarino Medina are deceased.
Family and friends will always remember Mague as a quiet, kind, and religious person. He regularly volunteered at the Lourdes Grotto, regularly attending mass and spending time with his beloved grotto community until he was unable to do so.
Thank you to all that visited him and to the caretakers at Josie's Personal Home care and Journey Hospice who patiently and lovely saw to his needs.
