Our adored matriarch, Margarita P. Martinez, passed away November 6 at the age of "almost 90." Born in San Antonio on December 28, 1926 to Martin and Anita Perez, "Nana" as she was affectionately known, brought love to every life she touched.

She was preceded in death by husband, John C. and baby daughter, Rosita. Nana is survived by children Miguel (Sylvia), Rosita (Orlando), Dolores (Bobby) and Lulu along with grandchildren Veronica, Roxanne (Rick), Marisol (Ryan), Valerie (Nick), Sylvia, Bernadette (Ed), Nikki (Jon), Alexia, Andres, Emiliano and great-grandchildren Gabriel, Nicholas, Bella, Elizabeth, Noah and Eli as well as other relatives including siblings Martin Perez and Minnie Garibay.

Nana was most joyful when she was tending her glorious garden or surrounded by family, and carrying on meaningful traditions for birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. She never let us forget the true meaning of Christmas always leading by example. Her beautiful spirit will forever be with us.
