Dad, Marcos S. Cabrera, age 79, of San Antonio passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014. Dad was called by our Lord to leave his temprary home and to reunite with his first wife, our mother, Alicia L. Cabrera and our oldest sister, Lechita Cabrera. He is survived by our stepmother, Celenia Cabrera and our brothers and sisters: Marcos Antonio Cabrera (Yvonne), Eduardo Cabrera (Carmen), Maria Elena Davila, Martha Cabrera (Frankie), Rebecca Reyes (Mel), Daniel Cabera (Nancy), Marcos Cabrera Jr and Lisbeth Rojas. He is also survived by his sister and brothers Lupe Vasquez, Luis Cabrera and Antonio Cabrera; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. At age 20, after being married 3 years, Dad and Mom moved to San Antonio from Mexico City. He became a 3rd generation carpenter. He built and repaired many structures; but, he was especially proud of building a custom house for Celenia at age 65. Dad was a proud family man who felt honored and privileged to provide for his family. His other passion was soccer. He loved to play soccer and was an avid professional soccer fan. He also played many years with team Necaxa in a San Antonio soccer league. When his soccer knees gave out, he became a "pretty good" golfer. We loved those Sunday golf days with Dad; they started as fun and became competitive by the 9th hole. But they always ended with a "cold one." Dad gave us love, a good sense of humor, and the example of hard work. Throughout his life, especially the last few months, he showed us strength, courage and perserverance. He was lovingly known to us as Papi, to his grandchildren as Ito, to his wives as Marcos and to his friends as Maestro. He didn't want to leave us and he didn't. Our loving memory of him will always be in our hearts and minds. He will be missed dearly. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 4:00 P.M. in The Angelus Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in The Angelus Chapel. Interment will follow at San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery No.2. Gracias Papi, por todo lo que hicistes por nosotros.
