Obituary

Lucy Frazier Kammer died October 25, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born October 24, 1936, in Houston, Texas to Harris and Lucy Scott Frazier. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Neil; her sister Mary Kathryn (Kitty) Frazier Elkins, her brothers Lewis and Waters Frazier. She is survived by her children Anna Kammer Martin (Ron), Mark Kammer (Madeline), David Kammer (Suzanne Rivas), Peter Kammer (Hye Jung Choi); eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law Bob Elkins.

Lucy moved with her family to San Antonio as a young child. She attended St. Anthony Elementary School, Our Lady of the Lake High School, Providence High School and Incarnate Word College. In 1956 Lucy married Neil Kammer, a St. Mary's University graduate. In later years Lucy finished her Education degree at St. Mary's, going on to teach at both Incarnate Word and Providence High Schools in San Antonio. A move to Houston led to a teaching job at St. Agnes Academy. A subsequent move to Hawaii in the 1980's included a teaching job at Mary, Star of the Sea School in Honolulu.

After retiring from teaching Lucy volunteered teaching at her neighborhood elementary school in San Antonio, tutoring students in reading. She taught religious education at church and helped recent immigrants learn English. Volunteering at the St. Vincent de Paul at Prince of Peace Catholic Church was also a favorite activity. She was a frequent reader at Mass there as well.

During her lifetime in San Antonio Lucy was a member of several Catholic parishes, including St Gregory's, St. Luke's, St. Rose of Lima, and Prince of Peace. She enjoyed being associated with the Marianists at St. Mary's University, the Brigidine Sisters of St. Luke's and St. Paul's, and The Oasis Institute for Older Adults.

Lucy's family would like to express their profound gratitude for the wonderful care she received from R&R Caregivers; Villa de San Antonio Senior Living; Christus Hospice; and The Village of Incarnate Word Skilled Nursing.
