Lucio (Lou) D. Martinez entered eternal rest on April 2, 2022 at the age of 82 with his loving family by his side. Lucio was born and raised on the Southside of San Antonio, Texas and attended Harlandale High School.
Lucio was preceded in death by his loving and beloved son, Jesse; grandparents, Theresa Rivas and Fidel Dias; parents, Sofia Flores and Luciano Martinez; brothers, Joe (Ray) and Fernando; and beloved pets.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, whom he loved for over 50 years; sister, Olivia (Lupe); daughters, Norma (Rudy), Liza Marie, Lori Ann (Charles); grandchildren, Natalie Ann, Rudy James (Samantha); great-grandson, Tyler Jameson; beloved pet, Bucky; and his loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
In his free time, he dabbled with playing the accordion following some of his favorites, Flaco Jimenez and Ramon Ayala, and also enjoyed Country music. Lou also liked playing a good game of dominos, pool and (turkey) bowling. He loved spending time with his family as he looked forward to family trips to Rockport Beach, Texas, which would entail some fun family time in barbequing and swimming. He was a true San Antonian/Texan as he was a big fan of the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys. He also took delight in watching his favorite westerns and Hollywood classics; John Wayne, Audie Murphy, Gene Autry, Olivia de Havilland to name a few. He was intrigued in learning of the classic Hollywood actors and would often google their backgrounds to learn more about their life.
While working at Snow White Cleaners, he met Mary, the love of his life. One sweet day led to a long-lasting marriage & beautiful family. He also cherished his beloved pet, Bucky.
Lucio will forever be missed and loved by his family and those who knew him and worked with him from his time at City Public Service, Northside I.S.D, and his part-time at Frank R. Gonzales Realty. He was a hard worker & provider for his family including running his own business, MGM Building Maintenance, before his retirement.
He was one of a kind who will be dearly missed and whose legacy will forever live on in our hearts.
The Martinez family would like to thank everyone for your thoughtfulness and prayers during this difficult time.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
