Obituary

Lucille Michiels Persyn Lane, 89, was called home by our Lord on January 4, 2021. Lucille was born in San Antonio on January 3, 1932, to Polidoor and Ida Michiels. She was the youngest of six daughters, Tillie (Darson Persyn), Mary (Ralph Mendez), Agnes (Phil Grothues), Paula (Arthur Grothues), and is survived by her sister, Cecilia (George Stevens), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lucille was the mother of five children, two of which preceded her in death, Anthony R. Persyn and Bryan R. Persyn. She is survived by her three daughters, Bernice Persyn, Julie Persyn, and Esther Kelly (Richard Clarke), granddaughter Morgan Hoquist, daughter-in-law Amy Persyn (Bryan) and granddaughters Katie (Mike Winters), Laurie (Simone Giuliani and daughter Mia), and Marcie Persyn.

Lucille lived her entire life in San Antonio, graduating from Saint Henry's High School, and was part of the tight-knit Belgian farming community in south San Antonio, including the Belgian-American Society.

Lucille's profession as a church secretary led her to meet and marry Reverend Clyde Lane, who preceded her in death. They developed a deep love for each other, gardening, wildflowers, their families and their faith in the Lord. Lucille was blessed with a beautiful voice that she shared with her fellow parishioners as part of Saint Luke Catholic Church choir for many years. Lucille embraced the beauty of God's world, expressing it through her love of painting and drawing.  All who loved her, neighbors, family and friends, admired her skillful artwork.

The family wishes to thank One At Home, the angels at Abundant Hospice, and Viorica Cristea and staff of Serving Faithfully Assisted Living, for their kindness, professionalism, and loving care of Lucille.
