Luciano C. Arredondo, "Lucky" was born April 14, 1944 and joined God's Kingdom January 25, 2022 after a long battle with cancer and a final battle with covid. He's survived by his wife, Norma Arredondo, his children: Ronnie and Kathy; step-children: Enrique and Ursula; siblings: Richard, Irene, Dolores, Eddie and Rudy; and grandchildren: Nicholas, Rafael and Michael. He was predeceased by his parents Luciano and Elvira, and his sister Linda.
He graduated from Fox Tech H.S. where he played basketball and developed his artistic talent and won awards for his artwork. Luciano had a career as an advertising illustrator at the San Antonio Light and then as a graphic artist at USAA where he retired.
One of Luciano's greatest passions and joys in life was his wife, Norma. They were active with Fox Tech Alumni activities and functions and Luciano never turned down a chance to dance with his wife. Every day they woke up hugging each other and ended each day holding hands. Their marriage was full of love and dancing each day as they praised God they found one another. It was Luciano's wife who helped him return to painting the last 20 years. Luciano's most recent painting of the Virgen de Guadalupe looking up to the heavens "Le Suplico a Dios" (I plea to God) sold in December 2021.
Another passion of Luciano's was sports. He started baseball and softball coaching his son Ronnie at age 5, which brought him tremendous joy. Luciano also loved coaching countless others and helping them develop into quality players. He was a 30+ year member of the San Antonio Softball Association. In addition to loving coaching, Luciano was a passionate Spurs, Cowboys, Astros fan and enjoyed watching or reciting the games with his brothers. In the last ten years, Luciano became a Patriots and Gator fan because of his son-in-law Eddie. They enjoyed watching the games with a "Lucky drink" (Jack Daniels and sprite) by their side.
Luciano's priorities in life were God, his wife Norma and family. Luciano looked forward to family gatherings and hearing from his children and siblings. He never missed a day praying for every family member by name. Luciano's was a devout catholic and loving husband. He deeply cherished his family, consistently volunteered to create artwork for Fox Tech reunion or softball association events, and was always generous in helping people.
"Lucky Luciano" touched many lives and will always be remembered for the beautiful, peaceful soul that he was. Although we are saddened by Luciano's passing, we are comforted by his faith in God, our beautiful memories of him, and most importantly, we are thankful his passing was peaceful.
