Loyd Joseph LeBlanc Jr. from San Antonio, Texas quietly passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026 after 94 years of a vibrant life of faith, service, and dedication to be home with Our Lord. He was passionately loyal to his family, friends, St Gerard Catholic Church, and numerous community organizations.
Loyd was the eldest of three siblings. He was born on February 27, 1932 here in San Antonio. He was preceded in death by parents: Loyd LeBlanc Sr., and Patsy (Nee: Letenbacher) LeBlanc, brothers: Charles LeBlanc Sr., and John LeBlanc l., nephew: Charles LeBlanc Jr.
Loyd is survived by nieces: Sharon (Joe) Long, Cyndy Rader, Tricia LeBlanc Schell, nephew: John LeBlanc ll. Also survived by six great nieces and nephews as well as three great-great nieces.
Loyd is a graduate of Central Catholic High School and St. Mary's University where he earned his degree in Music. After graduation he taught music for a while then turned his attention to his career as a bookkeeper for a local materials company. Upon retirement, Loyd focused his time in various ministries at St. Gerard Church such as Music ministry, where he served as the church organist for well over 40 years. Loyd enjoyed singing in the choir and also assisted in selection of hymns for Masses and special celebrations with personal input to specific hymns and in particular key signatures that were familiar to parishioners so more could actively participate singing as well. Loyd was very active in the Altar and Holy Name Societies at the parish as well as other ministries such as Parish Council, Senior's Group, Liturgy, Ushers, Eucharist ministry, and others that benefitted from his presence. Loyd was a founding member of St. Gerard Church's Knights of Columbus Council #10270 and was a 4th degree Knight and served in offices while active to support the mission of the Knights of Columbus mission for the pastor and the parish.
In the community, Loyd was very active in organizations focusing on history and preservation. He was a founding member and active participant of the Highland Park Neighborhood Association. He was an officer and held a position for many years to support the mission of the neighborhood association. Loyd was a long-time member of Hermann Sons of Texas (now Hermann Sons Life). He was an active and supportive member of the Pershing Lodge. Loyd was a member of the San Antonio Conservation Society. While Loyd in general was always with a quiet demeanor, he was always vibrantly excited when Fiesta came around in April. He specifically had a long standing tradition of a riverside table at Casa Rio during the Cavalier's River Parade for which he gathered close friends to enjoy the sights and sounds of the festively decorated river floats for a celebration that has always been historically the fanfare kickoff of Fiesta here in San Antonio. A party for the whole town! Likewise, Loyd always enjoyed going to the Conservation Society's hosting of the Fiesta tradition, a Night In Old San Antonio, locally known as NIOSA. He enjoyed all the food and entertainment offerings there while assisting where needed to promote and support the success of the event for the Conservation Society.
In Loyd's final years, he resided at St Francis Nursing Home under the loving and spiritually guided supervision of the Polish Seraphic Sisters and their nursing and caregiver staff there. Loyd diligently engaged in all daily activities offered at St. Francis including daily Rosary's and Chaplets of Divine Mercy, daily Mass, therapy services, and all daily activities and special occasion celebrations. He always had the weekly calendar distributed by the home by his side and was attentive to all scheduled times and activities. He was very active socially at St Francis and was truly well liked by all other residents, staff and volunteers.
Loyd was a very loving, kind-hearted, and patient friend to so many. He loved his family, history and preservation, antiques, and possessed an infallible loyalty to God, Our Lord Jesus Christ, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and to The Holy Catholic Church and all the traditions and the faith that he so devoutly kept and shared. He will be truly missed and love for him will continue in our hearts as inspiration for our own lives to emulate.
