Our beloved Husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather, Louis Guerra Gonzaba Sr., was received into his eternal home on September 14, 2021 at the age of 89. There he was reunited with his heavenly family, his father and mother, Mike and Janey Gonzaba, his siblings Mary Casanova (Louis), Bertha Torres (Ignacio), and Mike, Sarge, Gonzaba (Mary Lou).
Louis is survived by his wife of 64 years, Olga P. Gonzaba, his Children, Deborah Mireles (Danny) and Louis G. Gonzaba Jr. (Bertha). His 5 Grandchildren Melissa Alaniz (Jason), Jennifer Garcia (Albert), Sheena Gonzaba-Palacios (Melo), Louis G. Gonzaba III and Joey Gonzaba (Cheyenne), seven Great-grandchildren, Brandon (Shelby), Jayden, Juliana, Jarren, Alyssa, Avery, and Mateo and three Great-great grandchildren Aubrey, Ariya and Jace. Numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Born November 7, 1931, Louis was a graduate of Central Catholic High School Class of '49 beginning a legacy of Central graduates, Louis Jr, Class of 79, Louis Gonzaba III Class of '09 and Joey Gonzaba Class of '13. He attended St. Mary's University until being drafted into the United States Army where he served with tours in Germany and the states. After his honorable discharge at the rank of SGT he and Olga settled in Southeast San Antonio, TX
In his younger days you would find him on the baseball field or enjoying friends and family at the Jungle Inn. Later in his life he worked in retail construction with City Lumber, Alamo Enterprises, Jones Blair Paint Company and Acme Lumber. Louie built a strong reputation with many small independent builders by helping them read plans and calculate the materials needs for their jobs, not to mention many times drawing up their plans.
Louie was so proud of the Gonzaba name and loved his family more than anything. He enjoyed being on the golf course with his friends but mostly playing with his son Louie and grandson Louie. He continued to play with friends well into his 70's. He was an exceptional dancer. The envy of all at the Family Reunions each waiting their turn to dance with him. He was often heard telling them "It's all in the knees".
Louie, the oldest male Gonzaba, left many memories in all our hearts and will never be forgotten. We love you!
