Rev. Louis R. Dussan, C.M.F. died on Monday, September 14, 2015 at CHRISTUS Sr. Mary Hospice in San Antonio, Texas. Father Dussan was born in Betania, Huila, Colombia on October 10, 1922. He was the son of the late Bruno and Rafaela (nee Camacho) Dussan. Father made his first profession of vows as a Claretian Missionary in 1941 and was ordained a priest in 1949 in Bogota, Colombia. As a young priest, he was first assigned as Prefect of Students and teacher in the Claretian Minor Seminary in Bosa, Colombia. Later he was sent to Japan where he worked as a missionary for six years. He then received a new assignment to the United States working tirelessly for the next ten years as an itinerant missionary in Texas. He loved preaching and working in parishes, but found his true calling in the Cursillo Movement. After years of successful ministry with Cursillo, he was asked to help establish the movement in Colombia. Father Louis was then given the opportunity to return to studies at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he studied Psychology. He then returned to the Claretian Seminary in Colombia as Master of Novices. The following year he accepted the position of Director of Religious Education in the Archdiocese of Guayaquil, Ecuador. He returned to Texas six years later and continued his work as an itinerant missionary wherever he was needed. He loved the migrant workers and saw the opportunity to help people keep their faith alive and vibrant. Father Louis believed that faith needed to be nurtured and become an active part of one's daily life experience. In 2008, Father Louis retired from active ministry and resided at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in San Antonio.
