Louis Anthony "Louie" Rizzo was called to heaven on November 25, 2025 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Florence Rizzo, and his wife, Lola Rizzo. He is survived by his four children Tom Rizzo and wife Susan, Mark Rizzo and wife Joan, Victoria Lopez and husband Michael, and Deanna Collier and husband Danny, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, brother Johnny and wife Doris, sister Rosemary and husband Don, and brother Bobby and wife Mary C., and many nieces and nephews.
Louie was born on September 23, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas. He grew up in a vibrant Italian community in downtown San Antonio centered around San Francesco di Paola Catholic Church. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1951. He attended college at the University of Texas in Austin where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology in 1955. After graduation, Louie joined the Army and served his country. In 1957 he returned home and married the love of his life, Lola. In 1957 Louie also began his long career with International Aerial Mapping Company where he worked for 48 years beginning as a map maker and finally retiring as President. He enjoyed his work but more importantly, he enjoyed being a friend and mentor to the people he worked with.
Louie was an active member of the Christopher Columbus Italian Society where he served many roles including President. He was also very active in the Alamo Heights Rotary Club. Louie enjoyed bowling, golf, volunteering his time with activities at the CCIS and Rotary Club, playing gin with his friends, but most of all spending time with his family.
Louie's family was his pride and joy. He led by example and always encouraged them to "Do your best". He always had a joke or a story to tell. Louie was a quiet leader, a friend to all, a family man and most importantly a man of faith. He will be greatly missed.
