Lillian (Lill) Van De Walle was born July 31st 1944 in San Antonio, TX to Riley and Lydia White. She was an advocate for those suffering with Alzheimer's disease and cancer; both, ultimately claimed her life on July 25, 2023. She was preceded in death by her son, Keith Van De Walle and husband, Tom Van De Walle. She is survived by son, David and his wife Lisa Van De Walle, and grandchildren: Tanner and Megan; daughter, Andrea Van De Walle and husband Steve Ruiz; brother, Jim and wife Sylvia White, and nephew, Jason.
Lill was born and raised in San Antonio where she was crowned Miss Fiesta in San Antonio in 1964. Her passion for serving others led her to Incarnate Word College where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1965. Her nursing career ranged from a short stint in the US Navy to working nights at Oak Hills Care Center (10 years) as a night supervisor.
This passion was also evident as Lill was an advocate for Alzheimer's disease patients and their families. She served as the president for the Alzheimer's Support Group of San Antonio for several years. For 20 years she also served a local community program, "The Rockers", which allowed young moms to complete high school while she cared for their babies. She received great joy and happiness from serving within her church, St Dominic's. Her involvement over the years focused on community outreach by participating in: St Vincent de Paul, Bereavement Care, Church Fundraisers and Gardening Angels. Her life focus changed in 2011 to care for her husband until his death in 2013.
Her greatest legacy were her children and grandchildren who she deeply admired, respected, loved and encouraged from the heart.
