Leticia "Letty" Isabel Thorn (née Valdez) was born on September 18, 1958 to Carmen Bazan and Floyd Valdez. On August 28, 2024, she joined her parents and sister, Margaret Metzger, in death. She is survived by her daughter, Risa Puleo, husband Tracy Thorn; step-daughter, Brittany Wilson; 22 adopted grandchildren; and brother, Steve Valdez.

Letty applied her meticulous, analytical mind to her long career as a Budget Analyst for the public and private sectors of the military. She was in many ways a civil servant in the integrity, selflessness, and devotion she gave to her work and, especially, as a single mother to her only child, Risa, and to her husband, Tracy.

All those who knew Letty in life were touched by her quiet grace, adventuresome spirit, fearless honesty, and fierce love. She extended that love unconditionally to her nephew Scott Metzger and nieces Laura Petersen and Anissa Valdez. She loved Scott's daughters, Zoe and Dylan, and Laura's daughters, Isabella and Annalee, like grandchildren. To be loved by Letty was to be shown how to see and make the ordinary of the everyday extraordinary.
