Leonard C. Calonge, age 73, passed away suddenly December 31, 2014. A native San Antonian, he graduated from Fox Tech High School and retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after 34 years of faithful service. He then went to work at Joskes of Texas in the Jewelry Department and enjoyed many years of meeting and greeting customers and always serving them with a smile. After Joskes of Texas closed, he missed interacting with people and went to work at Walmart in the Garden Department. Because of his infectious smile and his willingness to always be of assistance he met many people, some of whom remained in contact with him after he left Walmart. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where he was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8302 and a Fourth Degree Sir Knight of the San Antonio Assembly 1102. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Aurora Calonge; brothers, Edward and Richard, and sister Delia C. Hernandez. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Elida; daughter, Gerri, and granddaughter, Sarah Noel; sister Betty Calonge Gamez and her husband Roy, Pass Christian, MS and numerous relatives and friends. It can truly be said he enjoyed life and people. He never met a stranger. He was kind hearted and had a heart of gold. He and his beautiful smile will be missed.
