Obituary

Laura Dawn Verstuyft (Roe), age 60, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday March 19, 2023, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with lung cancer.  Born April 9, 1962 to Richard and Janet Roe, she lived her entire life in San Antonio, TX.  She was an adoring wife to her husband David, a wonderful mother to her daughter Candace, and the absolute best "Lolli" to her two grandchildren, Easton and Emmett.

Her love story with David began in 1977 and lasted for 46 years. They were married on June 9 th , 1984 at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in San Antonio. One of her favorite things to do with him, whenever she got the chance, was to two-step to some good country music. For over 38 years, she was a devoted employee to John Etlinger, MD.  She also loved spending time with family, especially taking trips to Disney World and Las Vegas. She was a creative person who always seemed to be able to make the greatest decorations for any party when tasked. She was a member of the Belgian American Club of Texas and co-chaired the Belgian booth (which if anyone knows was more like a small village) for over 25 years at the Texas Folklife Festival. As an avid reader and animal lover, another one of her favorite things to do would be to curl up with a good book and a cat in her lap. She was a beautiful person, inside and out, and will be incredibly missed by both family and friends.

She is survived by her husband David; her daughter and son-in-law, Candace and Adam Bockelmann; her two grandchildren: Easton and Emmett; her father and mother,  Richard and Janet Roe;  her brother Steven Roe(Laurie), her sister Robin Roe(Sarah), her brothers-in-law: Michael Verstuyft(Sharon), Gary Verstuyft (Terry), Rick Verstuyft (Jacque), sister-in-law Julia Taylor(Todd), and several nieces and nephews.

The family invites you to celebrate Laura's life with them.
