Obituary

Kathleen Francis Riojas was born in San Antonio on September 17, 1941. Kathleen was also known as Katie to her cousins and Kathy to her friends.

Kathleen was raised by her mother, Julia Trevino, until she married her loving husband, Isidoro "Izzy" Riojas Jr. Together they raised 5 children, JoAnn, Rocky, Julie, Jolanda, and Guy, who blessed them with 7 grandchildren Amanda Rae, Joshua, Victoria, Rocky, Bella, J.D. and Andie and 2 great-grandchildren, Opal Dove and Madden James.

Although Kathleen was an only child, she filled her life with adventures with her numerous friends and cousins, who she considered as her siblings.

Kathleen was a beacon of love, loyalty and grace. She was a very generous and kind person. She had a welcoming heart and home. She was a great cook and would never let you leave her home hungry. It was not unusual for her home to be filled with her children's friends and cousins on any given day.

Kathleen had a love for gardening, dancing, traveling, hosting parties and art.

Kathleen began taking art classes as a form of therapy when her son was killed in the line of duty. Although, his death took a toll on her, she honored her son by hosting an annual Christmas dinner for the SWAT team.

Additionally, as an artist, many of her works were donated to support various charities. She was affectionally called by her family "Picosa" instead of Picasso.

Kathleen's life was a testament to the power of love and resilience. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She will be remembered for her beauty, kindness, smile, dance moves, beautiful paintings, sense of humor, good food, and her generous heart.

Kathleen, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a loyal friend, and gracious soul, will forever live in our hearts.
