Obituary

Juanita Garcia Munoz was born on February 10, 1928, in Pearsall, Texas, to Maria and Juan Garcia, died on February 28, 2015. She married Antonio R. Munoz on December 2, 1942. He preceded her in death in 2008. She was a very active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she worked tirelessly alongside her husband and the congregation of the late 50s and early 60s to make their vision of a new church a reality. She was voted CYO Woman of the Year in 1996. She joined the Guadalupanas and was a past president of the Christian Mothers Society. In her later years, when she was unable to attend church, Fr. Collins would visit her at home regularly and served her Holy Communion. After Fr. Collins retired, Mrs. Aide Arredondo and Mr. Miguel Ruiz continued the visits and Holy Communion for her. Also there were the parishioners who continued to visit and pray the rosary and the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy with Juanita when she was homebound. A very special thanks to them for their service to our mother. Also thanks to all the neighbors who visited and kept her in their prayers. Mrs. Munoz worked for Finesilver Manufacturing, Levi Strauss and other small companies as a seamstress for many years. She would only stop in between to have her babies. Later on she sold Tupperware Products, Stanley Products and was an Avon Representative well into her seventies. We thank her and our dad for instilling in us a very strong belief in God and a very strong work ethic. Mother will be missed by all who knew and loved her. "Jesus said to her: I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in Me, although he be dead, shall live: and every one that liveth and believeth in Me, shall not die for ever." -John 11:25, 26. Because she believed, she will now be with our Lord and in the company of those that preceded her in death: her husband; her parents; siblings: Victorio, Hilario, Bertha, Melquiades and Albino; grandson, Thomas J. Preciado; granddaughters: Crystal Rivera and Sonia Hernandez; and son-in-law, Cecil Torres. She is survived by her children and spouses: Mary Jane Torres, Emilia and Joe Attlesey, Teresa and Ruben Hernandez, Elvia and Tony Munoz, Yolanda Munoz, Eliza and George Munoz, Esperanza and Jesse Munoz, Gloria and Curtis Braziel, Agnes Munoz, Bernice and Rick Vasquez, and Catherine Preciado; 33 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Lola Brown and Margarita Orta; numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. We wish to acknowledge and thank Vitas Hospice personnel, especially Carolina Rodriguez, George Zavala, Rebecca Villafranca, Gina Saenz, and Renee Bush for the tender service and care they showed our loved one. Serving as pallbearers will be: Marco Munoz, John Munoz, Matthew Munoz, Richard Kyle Reyna, Charles Arriaga, and Christopher Arriaga. FUNERAL SERVICES Visitation will begin Wednesday at 5:00 P.M. at The Angelus Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. that evening. A procession will depart the funeral home Thursday at 9:30 A.M. for a Funeral Mass to be offered at 10:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow in San Fernando No. 3 Catholic Cemetery.
