Juanita G. Cardenas was born on December 23, 1936. On Tuesday, May 21, 2024 she passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong resident of San Antonio and over the past 20 years frequently spent time in Tampa, Florida with her daughter, son in-law and grandsons.
A matriarch whose life was profoundly devoted to her family. She was a single mother who worked multiple jobs tirelessly to provide for all the needs of her daughters. She retired from Wilson Davis Co. where she spent 30 plus years working as a secretary.
A selfless, loving woman with style, strength, and resilience who was happiest when spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her home was their sanctuary where she enjoyed preparing them home cooked meals and having wine nights in her kitchen filled with conversation and laughter while listening to music. She loved shopping, dining out, traveling, and enjoyed the beach.
She was a thoughtful, loving, and endearing mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Our family is forever blessed that the brightest, most nurturing parts of our souls have grown from her roots.
She was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life Lorenzo Munoz; her parents, Andres and Teresa Garza; her siblings Roy Sandoval and Lucy Acosta. She is survived by her children (and their spouses), Celia Ramos, Diane Cardenas, Janie Marie (Jesse) Gallegos, Tina Louise (Victor) Verastegui, Sam Munoz, Michelle (Joe) Garcia; her sister, Raquel (Rick) Mendoza; her grandchildren, Joe, John, Celina, Jenna, Sarah, William, Nicholas; her great grandchildren, Julian, Angelina, Daniel, Jason and Nehemiah; her uncle Joe Quiñones; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
