Josefina Garcia was born to Celestino Garcia and Maria Calvo on September 18. 1931.  Josefina was born in the city San Antonio, and was a lifelong resident. Josefina was proceeded in death by her parents and two sisters Perfecta Gutierrez and Celia Gamez.  Josefina is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Josefina (Josie) had been a member of St. Michael since 1936, from the old church which was demolished in 1964 and Hemisfair was then constructed in the neighborhood.  The new St. Michael's was then built in its current location in 1966.

Josefina graduated from St. Michael's High School in 1950. Josefina was a member of the Guadalupanas most of her life.  While at St Michael she taught classes in religious education and became the Director of Religious Education.  Later she continued to serve St. Michael as the lector coordinator. Her attachment to St. Michael was a loving and caring one. She loved to hand out special prayer books to everyone she knew.

Josefina began her employment career as a bookkeeper at the produce market with different companies; she then worked at City Water Board, which changed to San Antonio Water Systems. Josefina then retired in 1992 from SAWS.

Josefina's home displayed a collection of dolls from various countries. She had a special attachment to all of them, including the dolls she kept on the sofa and chairs.
