José (Joe) P. Blanco passed away on April 1, 2019 at the age of 64. He was born in Ciudad Mante, Tamaulipas, Mexico and migrated to the US in 1968. Joe graduated from Pan American University (now the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley) with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1980. That same year, he moved to Lake Jackson, Texas to work for Dow Chemical Company where he spent his entire career as a chemist. Upon retirement, Joe spent his days as an active member of St. Jerome Catholic Church as a Third-Degree member of The Knights of Columbus and travelled the world with his family and friends.
Throughout his life, Joe would go out of his way to help anyone who needed it. There was no problem he couldn't find an answer to if he didn't already know it. He loved his family and always brought smiles to the room with jokes and dancing whenever he was around. He especially cared for his nieces and nephews, whom he treated and cared for as if they were his own children. He was also an animal lover, notably for dogs. He was a lifelong fan of soccer and in his spare time would coach and referee youth leagues. Joe was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend and will be dearly missed.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Otilio Blanco and Guadalupe Piňon, and brother Cipriano. He is survived by his eight siblings Cecilia Garcia, Teresa (David) Wright, Martha (Carlos) Cano, Margarita Blanco, Roberto Izaguirre, Juan Carlos (Veronica) Izaguirre, Manuel Blanco, Ascención Blanco, and numerous nieces and nephews.
