Jonathan, aka SA Aquaman, P. Vela, age 38, of San Antonio, died on Friday, August 8, 2014. Jonathan participated in numerous children's charities, including Special Olympics, Autism Awareness, Breast Cancer Awareness, and Elf Louise. He was known to many as SA Aquaman and very active in the community raising money for different organizations, near and far, for which he felt were important. Jonathan was a UTSA graduate with a Bachelor and a Masters Degree in Political Science. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Vela Jr. Jonathan is survived by his mother, Carla Vela; sister, Cynthia Vela Flores; brother, Jeffery Vela; maternal grandmother, Alice Ramos; nieces, Melissa, Ashley, Kristin Vela; nephew, Vincent Flores; uncles and aunts, Charles Ramos, Ronald and Connie Ramos, Cynthia Hernandez, Richard and Theresa Vela, Linda Thomason; godparents, Roland and Sandy Perez; and numerous cousins, loving family, and beloved friends. Visitation will begin on Monday, August 11, at 6:00 PM with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at The Angelus Chapel, 1119 N. St. Mary's Street, San Antonio, Texas 78215. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 12, at 10:00 AM at The Angelus Chapel. Interment will follow at San Jose Burial Park.
