John Hiram Harris passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026 at the age of 92. John was born to Hiram Eugene and Mary Elizabeth Smith Harris on May 7, 1933.  He attended Saint Henry's elementary school and grew up in South San.  John always had a smile on his face and was willing to help with whatever he was asked. After his mother's death, John lived for a time with his brother and sister-in-law. After a while, he moved in with his sister and brother-in-law.

During the last 35 years, John was a part of the Mssion Road Development Center community. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his housemates, competing in the Special Olympics, playing softball with this group and the annual trips he would take to the coast.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Eugene Harris and his wife Betty Jo; his sister, Mary Lou Krus and her husband, Clarence. He is survived by his niece, Gena Montfort (John), and his nephews, Peter Krus, Gene Harris (Dorothy), and Clarence Harris (Annabelle), his great nieces, and nephews: Nick, Elizabeth, Tim, Autumn, and Clint and their families.

The family is very grateful for the care and opportunities John received from Mission Road, especially the staff of the group homes where John lived.
