Jesus Adrian Garcia, known to many as Dery, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 28 years old.
Born on May 25, 1998, in Mission, Texas, Dery lived a life full of love, laughter, and determination. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, an accomplishment that reflected the hard work and dedication he poured into everything he did.
Dery was the beloved husband of Julie, a cherished son to Ariel and Maria Garcia, and a loving brother to Daniela Garcia, Nesby Garcia, and Ariel Garcia Jr. He was also a proud and loving uncle to his nephews Marcos, Diego, David, AGIII, Elio, and Ezekiel, and his niece, Leilah. His family was his greatest source of pride and joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
He had a passion for movies, trying new foods, traveling, and spending time playing Marvel Rivals. He was also a devoted sports fan and proudly cheered for the Dallas Cowboys, the San Antonio Spurs, and the Texas Rangers. Whether he was watching a game with family and friends or celebrating a big win, sports were another way he connected with the people he loved.
Music occupied a special place in his life. There was always a song playing, whether he was driving, relaxing at home, or sharing his favorite artists with those around him. His playlists were filled with the music he loved most, especially by Kendrick Lamar, Charli XCX, Lauryn Hill, and Bad Bunny.
Dery worked incredibly hard for the life he built. He was proud of earning his college degree, moving to San Antonio, buying his dream Toyota Supra, and becoming a homeowner. Every accomplishment was something he earned through perseverance, and he approached each new goal with quiet confidence and determination.
Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Dery knew how special he was. His smile could light up any room, and his presence made people feel comfortable, welcome, and loved. He was kind, selfless, generous, and strong. He was the person who showed up for others without being asked, who celebrated everyone's victories, and who always found a way to make people laugh. His kindness was effortless, and the love he gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Visitation, a rosary, and eulogies will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The Angelus Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Dery's life will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather as they honor his life and say their final goodbye.
One of Dery's favorite lyrics was, "The sky can fall down, the wind can cry now. The strong in me, I still smile." - Kendrick Lamar
That is how we will remember him. Through every joy he shared, every laugh he gave, and every life he touched, Dery showed us what it meant to love deeply, live fully, and always keep smiling.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

The sky can fall down, the wind can cry now. The strong in me, I still smile."
