On July 3rd, 2025 Jay Mayfield finished his earthly journey and went to spend eternity with Jesus Christ. Our beloved Jay was a dedicated husband, father, brother, and friend to so many. His dedication to his work was a reflection of his character. Also known as "The Mighty Thor" Jay worked as a window clerk for the United States Postal Service for 37 years. Admired by his customers, he took great pride in his service, and in doing so, left a lasting impression on everyone who came through his window.
He married the love of his life whom he called his angel, Theresa Maldonado on April 14th, 1984. They met 7 years prior in December of 1976 on a pilgrimage with Little Flower Parish to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, when Jay was contemplating entering the seminary. For the next three years, they continued to attend this pilgrimage every December. As fate would have it, God had other plans. Together, they raised two sons, whom he loved deeply and of whom he was endlessly proud.
He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He participated as a team member on the OLG Men's A.C.T.S. retreats since 2006. Additionally, he served as a catechist for Confirmation classes both at Little Flower Parish and OLG.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Maria Teresa Mayfield. He is survived by his wife Theresa; his sons, Jonathan and Ian (Patsy); and his siblings, Mark, Diane, Eddie, and Ana. He has left behind nieces and nephews and his godchildren. He will be greatly missed but he will never be forgotten.
To our friends, family, and the A.C.T.S. Community, thank you for your constant prayers, love, and support during this time. We love you all!
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
