Jason Richard Mogas
1973-2022
On Monday, August 29, our son Jason passed from this earth and with his departure this world lost a wonderful, loving and compassionate man. A man that treasured his family members and friends. Every creature he encountered meant so very much to him and he tried to save them all from the smallest insect to the stray cats he fed and cared for.
In his earlier school years, Jason was a competitive swimmer and enjoyed sports of all kinds. In his adult life, he developed the skills needed in the food industry to become a cook and to become an extraordinary food server, often being recognized as the most successful server in each of the high end restaurants where he worked. Cooking was one of his skills and he loved healthy eating.
Although Jason's life was a struggle filled with many ups and downs, in our family he was known as the man who never gave up trying. He would always come through the most difficult circumstances, dust himself off and start over again. He admired those that had similar traits and he spoke often about sharing his hard earned lessons with the less fortunate. His last message in the week before he passed was "There comes a time in every man's life when there is clarity and the realization that helping others is the most important thing one can accomplish". Jason's final act was to give the gift of sight by donating his corneas.
We will always remember him for his kindness. He will live in our hearts always.
Jason is survived by his father, Richard Mogas and wife Michele, his mother Lin Walton and husband Gary, his sister Elizabeth McNulty and husband Michael, and stepsister Jackie Menchaca Gamboa and husband Chris, uncles and aunts and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Lauren Mogas, stepbrother Grey Burrell Menchaca, and his loving grandparents.
