Obituary

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we inform you that our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and veteran, Israel Peña Sr. entered into eternal rest on March 26, 2021.

We will forever treasure his unconditional love. Israel was a loving husband to Olivia. Proud father of Lori and Israel Jr. and loving grandfather to Tiffany, Nadia, Frank, Jaelyn and Daniel. He will be fondly remembered by his siblings Rosie (Eddie) Diaz, David (Sandy) Peña, and Gloria Segovia. His memory will also be long lived by numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Federico and Lillie Q. Peña, grandparents, Patricio and Maria Quintanilla and Uncle and Aunt Jimmy and Inez Palacios.

Israel's marriage of 46 years to Olivia began with a simple dance.  It is a lovely one-of-a-kind story that is rarely experienced. He lived a long and dedicated life after honorably serving his beloved country in the United States Army.  Upon returning home from the Vietnam War, he raised a beautiful family all while proudly working at HEB for 43 years. Israel is the true embodiment of the American dream: God, country and family.

Israel had a passion for family, music, and shooting pool. His joyful demeanor, sense of humor and contagious laugh will be remembered most by his loved ones.

A celebration of Israel Peña Sr. life will take place on April 27, 2021 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with an honorary 21-gun salute. Due to current regulations at the cemetery, services may be limited to family only.
