Obituary

Isabel "Chavela" Elisa Reyna passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at age 92.

Isabel was a loving and heartwarming woman with everyone, but especially with Octavio, her husband of 56 years, five children, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She loved spending time with family and friends particularly during holidays and birthdays. She always maintained a special place in her heart for sisters-in-law (tias) Chelo, Corina, Juanita and Mique.

Isabel had a successful 30 year career at Ace Manufacturing. She started as a cap line worker in 1968 and worked through the ranks ultimately retiring as Quality Control Supervisor. Prior to starting at Ace, she often lovingly cared for small children in her home.

Although Isabel had a lengthy career, she found time on weekends to bake cakes for weddings, quinceaneras, birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions.

Isabel enjoyed traveling domestically and abroad. She especially enjoyed her trip to Jerusalem in the Holy Land and a Mediterranean cruise, where she visited the Vatican and attended a Papal Mass. She also traveled from Washington D.C. to California with stops in Chicago and Las Vegas. In addition to playing the slots, she also enjoyed a good game of bunco and loteria.

Isabel was a very spiritual woman. Raised in the Catholic faith, she prayed the rosary daily with Octavio and was devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Octavio G. Reyna; parents, Rudolfo and Margarita (Garza) Herrera; siblings, Ascencion, Rudolfo, Arturo, Ernesto Herrera, Reymunda Aguirre, Benita Cortez, Carolina Vasquez, Juanita Gonzalez; son-in-law, Homero Dorado; along with numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her children, Octavio (Gloria) Reyna, Juanita Dorado, Richard (Rose Mary) Reyna, Erma "Lindy" Reyna-Ochoa, Irma L. Reyna; grandchildren, Melissa, Toby (Gloria), Chris, Michael Reyna, Chloe Dorado; great grandchildren, Julia, Adrian, Joshua Reyna; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 7 th at 6:00pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm at the Angelus Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, September 8 th at 9:30am at Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery # 3.

Our sincere appreciation to her prayer group, especially Lucita and Sylvia. Additionally, special thanks to staff at Remarkable Hospice, Mari Turner, Director; Marcy Smith, RN; Jameschia, Hospice Aide; Clinton Couch, Chaplain/Deacon; and Katie Boggs, Social Worker.
