Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt
1948 – 2025
Irma Satarain Hernandez, a woman of extraordinary heart, unwavering will, and a fire-red spirit, passed away in the early morning on August 16th. She was 77.
Born on August 3rd, 1948, Irma was a woman of sharp intellect, fierce tongue, and deep love for family, God, and life. She was in many ways the shelter from the storm, and a storm herself. Little could get past her, and even less could keep in her way, her spirit enduring for and providing the strength of her family, and a strength seen in all her kin.
Irma devoted her career to teaching and bringing forth the new minds of our communities, a calling she answered with passion and grace. She devoted her home as a space for laughter, a space for friends, and to be a grand home to her loved ones, a refuge from our busy lives. Irma's devotion carried in her being a mother, a wife, a grandmother, and a powerful woman in mind and spirit. Her arms stretched out to hold the hearts of her beloveds, whose hearts are where she resides now.
Though her presence is no longer with us, the legacy she leaves behind is one of strength, courage, and love that will continue through generations. Her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her carry with them the pieces of her she imparted- of her perseverance, her unbreaking will, and her ability to love deeply. Her family, bound by her example, will forever carry the torch she lit, with the same stubborn, steadfast love that was the hallmark of her life.
Irma Satarain Hernandez is survived by her husband Manuel Hernandez, her children Gina Collano, Liza Gonzales, and Manuel Hernandez (Son), and her beloved grandchildren Jacob Moreno, Sarah Cataldo, Joshua Gomez, Emma Gonzales, Layla Gonzales, Noah Gonzales, and Jacob Hernandez.
