Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Irma Delia Gonzalez Zertuche, on September 2, 2018 at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Marcos Zertuche, Sr (1976), her parents Feliciano and Delia Gonzalez, sister, Aurora Morin, and granddaughter Carolina Bernadette Zertuche.  Mom was a loving mother, wife, aunt, and grandmother who always put her family first.

Born in Laredo TX she eventually moved to Monterrey MX where spent her childhood years. At the age of 14 she moved to San Antonio where she firmly planted her roots and made it her permanent home. She attended High School at Ursuline Academy of which she spoke of fondly. After graduating she worked at the family business and became the cashier at their Olmos Park restaurant where she met her future husband, Marcos Zertuche, and lifelong love. It was truly love at first sight! They spent the next 24 years totally in love and devoted to each other. Mom was a selfless and nurturing mother and devoted wife.

She was generous with her time and participated with civic and social clubs. Her interests were diverse as well as her talents. Her artistic abilities were a true blessing and made it all look so simple. She was especially proud of the art classes she took at Incarnate Word College under the direction of Jose Vives-Atsara where she excelled in oil painting using the palette knife. A true admirer of the arts and especially loved the renaissance period. She was passionate about real estate investing and the stock market and actively participated in both.

Mom loved antiques and jewelry and had an extensive knowledge on each subject. Her creative artistry took many forms throughout her life. She was not afraid to try anything and usually succeeded at what she did. Mom made the most of any opportunity that was presented. Her talents ranged from jewelry design, stained glass, watercolor, ceramics, calligraphy, cooking, embroidery, acrylic painting, ceramic doll making, and gardening to name a few of her interests. Her african violets were very dear to her and gave her such joy.  A voracious reader who read every day of her life.

She is survived in death by her sister Maria Sceglio (Ron), daughters Rebecca Marina Davis (Joe), Roxanne Zertuche Ramsey, son Marcos Zertuche II (Lulu), grandsons: Greg Karadelioglou, Brandon T. Ramsey (Amber), and Marcos Manuel Zertuche III; granddaughter Isabella Anna Zertuche, and great granddaughter, Marlyn Delia Ramsey. Her love, charm, insight, and nurturing will be sorely missed by all the people whose lives she touched.

We will always be grateful to the caregivers who provided so much love and caring during her illness. Thanks to all the wonderful people at Amedisys Hospice Care

Pallbearers: Ricardo Alexander(honorary), Larry Shipley, Joe Davis, Gregory Karadelioglou, Brandon Ramsey, Marcos Zertuche III, Manuel J. Rodriguez III, Ronald Sceglio(honorary).
