Obituary

Life has in it some very special people and Homer P. Gonzalez, Jr., was one of them. Homer left this world on 21 November 2020 to everlasting life. A man, who filled with pride and love for his family would do everything he needed to provide for them. He had a heart of kindness and generosity helping his family throughout their lives when in need with actions, words and affection. A great friend to count on, he was a man of his word.

Laughter came easy for Homer as he loved life. He enjoyed travel to different parts of the country always appreciating what life has to offer. He also took pleasure in home gatherings with family and friends. He had a genuine interest for events happening all around the world.  He took pride in his home and his responsibilities, always keeping busy.

There was a unique love he had for his children and his only grandchild. He doted on them as kids. Later as they grew he began teaching and encouraging them through his example of work ethic and practical wisdom, things that they could carry throughout their lives as adults.

Homer served honorably in the U. S. Air Force from 1967 to 1971. After, he had a commendable career working for the State of Texas. He began as a case worker working his way up to a Department Supervisor for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission where he used his knowledge to help the lives of others. He worked there from 1975 until his retirement in 2000. He was a man who was respected and cared for by the many people he knew in his work place.

There are many memories of Homer to be cherished as a son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be remembered as a man who was funny and light hearted always quick with a smile and a hug or handshake. He will be sorely missed by those of us who loved him. Homer was loved by many who took joy in always having him in their lives. He is now in the light and hands of God in the heavenly after life. We pray the Lord will continue to bless him for his many acts of kindness and good will.

Homer is survived by his wife Ann, children Paul and Stephen Gonzalez, daughter Sondra Provost, granddaughter Lauren Kress (his kiddo) and his siblings, Yvonne Cavazos, Richard Gonzalez and Leticia Laughery.

Until we see you again you remain in our hearts.
