Herbert David Gisriel

Lovingly referred to as "Dave"

May 12, 1954 – May 21, 2024

Dave Gisriel, age 70, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, he was born on May 12, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland to Herb and Beverly Gisriel.

Dave served in the Air Force Medical Service as well as enlisting separately as a US Army Sniper and Combat Engineer. He retired from the US Postal Service in March 2013 after many years of service both in Maryland and Texas. In 2013 at the age of 58 Dave was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). At the time he was told the average life span with ALS was 2-5 years. He frequently shared his testimony with many people and often reminded his kids that God had other plans for him. We were blessed to have him in our lives for 11 years post diagnosis.

Along with his parents Herb and Beverly Gisriel, Dave was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Kimberly LaQuay Gisriel. They married on September 21, 1985 and together they shared a passion for traveling and exploring new places. They both agreed Roatan was their heaven on earth and often talked about moving there. Dave was an avid lover of adventure and the outdoors. Even during his beginning years with ALS you could find him hiking, biking, kayaking or just a day relaxing at the beach.

Dave is survived by daughter, Sherri Nadratowski (Justin Nadratowski); daughter, Crystal Gisriel; Son, Derek Gisriel (Lauren Gisriel); daughter, Danielle Stauffer (Mick Stauffer); brother, Doug Gisriel; sister, Kim Browne; sister Lori Bauman; his grandchildren: Mikayla Bell, Dylan Norsworthy, Jake Norsworthy, Ryan Gisriel, Joslynn Gisriel, Clara Stauffer, Miles Stauffer, Grant Stauffer and great-grandson Robert Norsworthy.
