God needed another angel so he chose someone who truly is angelic.
Henry De Hoyos Lopez was born Valentine's day, 1932, to Juanita De Hoyos Lopez and Juan Lopez. He was born and raised across the street from the Sunken Gardens. Henry was a man of God, who attended Our Lady of Sorrows Church his whole life. While attending Our Lady of Sorrows Church he served as an usher and he served on several committees and was part of the men's club.
As a young man Henry worked at Fort Sam Houston commissary. He then went to work at Randolph Air Force Base where he worked on the flight lines. He retired from Fort Sam Houston in 1994.
Henry was a kind hearted, caring, honest family man. He loved to be with his family. He especially loved family gatherings at his house to celebrate Easter, Halloween, and Christmas. Henry loved to play his accordion. He loved it so much he played live when KCOR radio station was on Broadway. Jam sessions with family and friends were memories he always held near and dear to his heart.
On September 28 th of 1963 Henry married his beautiful wife of nearly 58 years, Aurora Lopez. Henry would always surprise his beautiful wife with a red carnation every Saturday for several years. Together they shared several years full of countless joyous memories.
Henry was preceded in death by parents Juanita and Juan Lopez, sister Sixta "Chita" Longoria, brothers Joseph, Antonio, John, Steve, Alfred "Fito", and Albert "Pais", niece Janie Ortiz, nephew John "Butch" Lopez, Alfred "Buster" Lopez, Arnold "Ernie" Gonzalez, and Richard Delgado.
He is survived by his beautiful wife Aurora Lopez, sister Connie "Beve" Puente, his daughters Rachel (husband Joe), Aurora "Rori" (husband David), Beatrice (husband Gerald), sons Charles (wife Sandy), Henry (wife Lisa), 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and friends.
We would like to acknowledge and recognize the hard work and dedication from the doctors and nurses and many other amazing people at the Baptist hospital, who spent countless hours making sure our beloved Henry was well cared for.
