Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Hector Amaya, age 79, passed away on April 19, 2016 surrounded by the prayers and love of his family. Born on November 25, 1936 in Carrizo Springs, Texas, his humble beginnings provided the foundation that carried him through his entire life. He attended barber school after graduating from Carrizo Springs High School. He served in the US Army and had various duty assignments, including South Korea. Afterwards, he worked and prospered for 50+ years as a barber in San Antonio. This was highlighted in a newspaper article about his love for his customers and his dependability.
Hector was preceded in death by his parents Perfecto and Augustina Amaya. A devoted father and husband, he lived and worked tirelessly for his family who always felt his love for them. He is survived by his loving wife of over 54 years, Odilia Amaya, son Hector Jr. (wife, Cynthia) and son Rene (wife, Ana). He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Adrian, Marco, Gabi and Alex. He is also survived by his sister, Rosa Strong, Huber Heights, Ohio. The family has deeply appreciated the love and compassion offered during his illness.
