Obituary

Lupe Villarreal, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2025. She was born on April 22, 1934, in Hobbs, New Mexico, and was one of nine siblings. Lupe met the love of her life, Jose Villarreal, Jr., while he was stationed in Hobbs. They married on December 28, 1957, in Hobbs, New Mexico. They were later stationed in Hawaii for several years before settling in San Antonio, where they raised three children.

After her children had grown, Lupe began working at Morningside Manor, where she found joy in her job and developed many lifelong friendships. She retired after 17 years, leaving a lasting impact on those with whom she worked.

Lupe had a passion for baking, especially cakes and pies, a skill she took great pride in. For many years, she baked cakes for AT&T, formerly known as Southwestern Bell. A wonderful cook, Lupe also enjoyed decorating with flowers and wreaths, always putting love and care into everything she did.

Lupe was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Jose Villarreal, Jr.; her parents; and six of her siblings. She is survived by her three children, Edward Villarreal (Suzie), David Villarreal (Mary), and Christina Moreno (Ted); 12 grandchildren, Edward Villarreal Jr., John Michael Manzano (Ann), Jenison David Villarreal, Exsela Alyse Trevino (Ashley), Emily Rose Espinoza, Denise Stahl (Aaron), Koreena Villarreal, Stephanie Lopez, Nora Lopez, Victor Cano (Amanda), Elizabeth Hernandez (Roger), and Teddy Moreno (Helen); as well as eight great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, one great-great-granddaughter, sister Helen Ochoa and brother Manuel Salazar.
