Gilbert (Gil) Sanchez Ochoa Jr., 69 years of age, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Gil was born on October 30, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas at the Santa Rosa Hospital to Gilbert Aguilar Ochoa and Isabel Sanchez Ochoa.
The result of a festival in his Kindergarten year set the stage for his later years. His mother loved to relive the tale of him being voted by all of his classmates at the cost of a penny a vote, the king of the festival where he was able to adorn the blessed Mother at the Lady of Sorrow's school with a crown of flowers. How better to set the stage for what would be the rest of his life than to be crowned a king at four years of age.
Gil was a man that had many loves in his life including living life itself. He loved his family, to travel, cigars, a good drink, playing pool and cards, sports, and his Cadillac to name a few. Most of all he excelled at making friends in the most unlikely of places by just being himself. It wasn't uncommon to find your way in to a restaurant, a bar, or any other gathering place and someone happened to just know Gil. He loved to socialize where he was able to laugh and love with good company any opportunity he had.
Gil was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Aguilar Ochoa and his daughter-in-law Amy Leann Ochoa. Gil is survived by his mother Isabel Sanchez Ochoa, sons David Infante of Los Angeles, California; Michael Ochoa of Katy, Texas; his daughter Crystal Ochoa Conchas and husband Miguel Conchas of San Antonio, Texas; his grandsons Anthony Ochoa, Luke Ochoa, and Julian Conchas; his granddaughters Natalya Ochoa, Lilyana Ochoa and Olivia Conchas; along with a very long list of extended family members and very dear friends.
For a man that laughed and smiled, we all have moments that will forever embody his personality. Some shareable and some only over a drink. He had few regrets in life, but there were times that he did take his blows through the years. Even with this, no one can argue that Gil sure did it his way. We love you and miss you.
