Obituary

Loving husband and father Gerald Anthony Fayette also known as Jerry entered eternal rest on July 17, 2022, at the age of 77 in Austin, Texas. Jerry was born on July 5, 1945 to Nelson and Aileen Fayette in Trenton, New Jersey; at Fort Dix.

To cherish his memory, he leaves behind his wife of 49 years of marriage Theresa Laura Fayette; children Michael, Adrienne, and son-in-law Dave; grandchildren Bodie, Luke, and Quinn; sister Valerie Joi Odom. He is survived by Veronica Martinez and Barbara Flores, Tom and Kim Martinez, Christina Lopez and Libby Roussin. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.  He also leaves behind his beloved fur babies, Phinx and Tut. Jerry is preceded in passing by his parents and brothers Kenneth Lillbach and Richard Fayette.

As a son of a Warrant Officer in the United States Army, his family moved to several bases to include Germany, California, and on the East Coast. Their family finally settled at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. As a young man he worked to help support his family and help pay for his tuition at Central Catholic High School, graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1963. Shortly after, he attended the University of Missouri in 1965 and was drafted during the VietNam War in 1967. During his military career, he attended Our Lady of the Lake University in a BootStrap Program, majoring in Chemistry/Biology graduating with his Bachelor of Science in 1972. He returned to Fort Sam Houston to complete his American Society of Clinical Pathology Program. He was deployed to Seoul Korea as Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) to provide senior leadership for the army laboratory at Garrison Yongsan Hospital. Returning to Fort Sam Houston, he taught basic and advanced Medical Technology. He served at Baylor University as an Adjunct Professor through the Academy of Health Science at Fort Sam Houston; 1972-1977. He separated from the US Army as a Staff Sergeant in 1977 to pursue a career in the private sector. In his business career, he was a successful Medical and Laboratory Equipment salesman garnering State Contracts for his corporations. He enjoyed owning his own business and building vacation homes in Canyon Lake, Texas, and in 1999 he completed his business career as a Franchise owner for a Commercial Printing Company in San Antonio.

Jerry was a loving, generous, supportive, wise husband, father, brother, and friend. He was an outgoing, charismatic, and a funny guy. His family meant everything to him. He would always be there for his children. Jerry was an ultimate loyal Dallas Cowboy and Tom Landry fan. He was an incredible historian and captivating storyteller. He believed everyone should see the world, have an open mind, be willing to learn new knowledge and skills, and give your very best even if you were majoring in basket weaving.

Jerry also loved his animals and treated every pet as if they were part of the family. He would love to sit down, spend time with each pet, and make sure they knew how much he cared and truly loved them.

Jerry was a man who loved his life and experienced all that life had to offer. He enjoyed sharing history and his military knowledge with his grandchildren. He enjoyed games of strategy, golf, tennis, swimming, dancing, bowling, music of all genres and food. Ever since he was a child, Jerry loved to travel. He loved traveling even more once he had his wife and children. Besides going on cruise vacations, some of his favorite places to visit with his family were Medina Lake, Conroe, and Lake Whitney, where they would camp in their RV and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

He will be missed and will always be loved as a husband, a father, a brother, an uncle, a brother-in-arms, and a friend. We love you, Jerry.
