Obituary

George Cevallos entered eternal rest on the morning of July 30, 2024, at the age of eighty surrounded by his loving family.

George was born in Nixon, Texas on October 20, 1943, to Reynaldo D. Cevallos and Rosa Hernandez. He was the third child of seven. He was preceded in death by his first wife Oralia Cisneros, his sister Cecilia Montalvo and his brothers Ray, Johnny and Armando (Andy) Cevallos. He is survived by his loving wife Rose Cevallos, his brother Ruben and wife Machelle Cevallos, his sister Rose Mary Cevallos and his seven children: George Jr. and Irma Cevallos, Lisa and Dana Cottle, Lucinda and David Mata, Jeanette and Richard Britton, Robert and Jennifer Cevallos, Raquel Cevallos and Travis Pixton, Vanessa and Jason Boskind, and his stepson Mark Menchaca with whom he shared a caring relationship.

His legacy continues with his twenty-two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

George grew up in Nixon TX before moving to San Antonio TX as a young man. Once he was old enough, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Japan loading cargo planes. Soon after returning to civilian life, George started his family and the first of his jobs to provide for them. He worked hard for his family to not only survive, but to thrive. He drove a butane truck, worked at a paint warehouse as a forklift operator and eventually worked as an insurance agent. It did not take long for him to become the manager of insurance agents. He went on to start Cevallos Insurance Agency on Commercial Ave in south San Antonio and a second office on Bandera Rd. This allowed him to create jobs for various family members and become a valued member of the communities that he served. Once his children were independent, he got out of the leadership role and ended his working career at the U.S. Post Office operating mail sorting equipment. As always, he was dependable and took pride in his work and productivity and often contributed suggestions for improvements to the mail sorting and routing processes. After 25 years at the post office, he found love again and married Rose (Garcia) Cevallos, shortly before retiring to spend his remaining years with family and friends, enjoying life.

George took care of his family. He helped his parents and siblings when they needed it. He loved the Cevallos, Cisneros and Garcia family members very much and made sure that his children grew up knowing their uncles, aunts, and cousins. He invited several members of his family to join family vacations and even made room in his home for some of them so that they could get their working careers started.

George was also a man of faith. He raised his family in the Catholic Church and was active in fundraising for the church bulletin and volunteering for festivals at St. Clare Catholic Church. He was also involved in Marriage Encounter as a participant and helped other couples strengthen their marriages.

George lived a life of service to others. He leaves this world having made a lasting, positive impact on his family, friends, coworkers, and his community. He took nothing for granted and was grateful for all the blessings that the lord bestowed upon him and was ready to meet his maker.
