Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Frank and Carmen Bazán, cherished parents, grandparents, and beloved relatives. Carmen Bazán, born on June 8, 1946, peacefully departed this life on September 23, 2024, at the age of 78. Just two days later, her devoted husband, Frank "Paco" Bazán, born on May 1, 1949, followed her in death on September 25, 2024, at the age of 75.

They are preceded in death by their son, Daniel Bazán, and nephew, Robert Arceo Jr. Carmen was also preceded by her adopted parents, Manuel and Hortense Martinez; her birth parents, Oscar Gomez and Connie Vasquez; and her siblings, Oscar Jr., Enedina, Alex, Roy, Herbie, Betty, and Jesse Gomez. Frank was preceded by his father, Manuel Bazán Jr.; mother, Emma De La Garza; brother, Manuel Bazán III; and sisters, Roberta Bazán and JoAnn McKinley.

They are survived by their son, Sammy Bazán, his wife Dolores, and their three treasured grandchildren, Emma, Iliana, and Xavier Bazán. Additionally, they leave behind a host of half and adopted siblings, cousins, nephews, and nieces. Notably, they had four nieces whom they cherished as daughters: Krista Ochoa (Jesse), Kimberly Stafford, Trisy Arceo, and Elizabeth Santillan (Rene), as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss them dearly.

Frank and Carmen first married in 1971 and shared many beautiful memories before parting ways in 1984. However, their love endured, and they reunited in 1996, where they continued their journey together until their final days. Their enduring bond was a testament to the power of love and forgiveness.

Frank and Carmen Bazán were remarkable individuals whose lives were dedicated to service, family, and community. Carmen devoted her entire career to the County of Bexar, working in Child Support Services with unwavering compassion and commitment. Her dedication to helping families made a lasting impact on countless lives, and she approached each day with a caring heart.

Frank had a diverse career that reflected his multifaceted talents and passions. He worked as a mortician, a pharmaceutical representative, and a substitute teacher, always bringing kindness and understanding to his roles. Frank also found immense joy in volunteering at the Prospect Hill Baseball Fields, where he shared his love of sports and mentorship with young athletes in the community.

Together, Frank and Carmen created a warm and loving home centered around their family. They were devoted grandparents who found their greatest joy in caring for their beloved grandchildren. Their nurturing spirits and generous hearts have left a profound legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew them. Frank and Carmen will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of their family and friends. The Bazán family extends their deepest gratitude to all who have offered support during this difficult time.
