Frances J. Valencia, age 70 and a lifelong San Antonian, returned to God on October 4, 2024. Frances retired from the Department of Defense 25th Air Force, Lackland AFB. Her family and friends were her greatest joy. An extraordinary sister and aunt, while not having children herself, Frances took pride in helping to raise family members.
Frances was especially grateful to God for her great niece Matily, whom she passionately cared for over the past 3 years. A proud graduate of St. Ann's Elementary School, Incarnate Word High School, and the University of Texas at Austin, Frances actively volunteered in her community by teaching elementary students to read, assisting seniors in AARP's tax preparation, and serving as an Election Judge. A fierce advocate for democracy, she encouraged everyone to vote regardless of party affiliation.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents John G. Valencia Sr and Ida Adams Valencia, her sisters Helen Ruiz Aubert and Mary Jane Valencia, and her nephew Javier Ramon Ruiz. She is survived by Margaret A. and Edward John Lozano, John G. Valencia Jr, Matthew, Meadow, Serenity, Matily, Edward Lozano, Cissy Ruiz, Philip Anthony Ruiz, Lisa Ruiz Hayward, Theresa Ruiz Lopez, and Katya Ruiz among many others she long cherished.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Milind Javle of the MD Anderson Cancer Center and her kidney transplant specialist Dr Roque Diaz-Wong of San Antonio Kidney.
