Felicitas (Nora) Gamboa, born Felicitas Rivas on March 31, 1936, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023. Felicitas went by many endeared names Fela, Nora, Mom, Mama, Grandma, and Gramitz. She enjoyed her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She grew up in a musically talented family playing instruments and singing together.
After graduating from Lanier High School, she married the love of her life, Timoteo Gamboa on June 12, 1955. Together, they built a life in San Antonio, living near Kelly AFB where Timo worked. Their life together spanned 53 years. Fela enjoyed gardening, sewing, and caring for her 8 children and numerous grandchildren. She supported her husband and children in all their activities-- her husband's softball games, her children's ROTC, basketball, folklorico dancing, cheerleading, and rock bands. Among the many gifts she brought to the world the greatest were love and compassion. She taught her children to follow their dreams and encouraged them throughout. She was very religious, attended mass regularly, and prayed the rosary. She served her parish as a member of St. John Berchmans rosary team and Spanish choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband Timoteo Gamboa, sons Tim Gamboa and David R. Gamboa, grandson Aaron Thomas Gamboa, and great-grandson Aiden Isiah Gamboa, her father, Tomas Rivas; mother, Virginia Castillo Rivas; sisters: Luz Gutierrez, Sister Helen Louise Rivas C.D.P., Stella Garcia, Mary Diaz, and brothers: Martin and Harry Rivas.
She is survived by sons: Peter Gamboa (Rose Marie), Stephen Gerard Gamboa (Christine), Paul Gamboa, and daughters: Elizabeth Sandoval, Judy Lynn Cooper, and Virginia Gamboa; 19 grandchildren: Sarah Anne, Peter Jr., Marcus, Veronica Rae, Jessica Renee, Stephen Gerard II, Andrew James, Laura Rose, Melanie Elizabeth, Meghan Natasha, Elijah Paul, Gabriella Dominique, David Matthew, Nina Elizabeth and David Ryan Gamboa, Kelly Louise and Leslie Clarisse Cooper, Hector Octavio and Santino Manuel Sandoval; and 14 great-grandchildren: Micah Anthony and Amelie Faustina Ramirez, Julian Isiah Gamboa, Olivia Rose Gamboa, Jacob Thomas Rema, Noah Isaac and Madelyn Rae Rodriguez, Jameson Jude Gamboa, Caleb Paul and Brooke Ann Molina, Jonah Luke and Jordan Riley Regalado, Elise Kendall Gamboa, Douglas Mariano Martinez.
