Eudelia Rodriguez was born August 27, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to Ines and Aurora Oliva. Soon after her family moved to San Antonio, Texas.
Delia, as she was known, attended Sidney Lanier High School where she graduated from in 1971. After graduation she married and had two sons. She also began to work at USAA, where she celebrated a 35 year career working in the Billing and Information Technology Departments before her retirement. Delia made countless friends during her lifetime and career. Some of her friends traveled with her to Las Vegas to celebrate her 50th birthday. She had three USAA friends for over 40 years who she traveled with and met for lunch on a regular basis even after her retirement. Later she became a member of the Red Hat Society with her friends and together with all her "sisters" she enjoyed more gatherings, lunches and travel.
Delia's Catholic faith was important to her and she attended two ACTS Retreats (English and Spanish). Anyone who knew her loved her contagious laughter and crazy "dichos" (sayings). Delia had a presence about her and when she entered a room or an event you had to smile because you knew you were going to have a fun time.
She married Al Rodriguez and they made a beautiful life together for many years until his death. Her sons and her grandchildren were her life! She was very proud of Carlos and the grandchildren he blessed her with. When she spoke of them her eyes lit up. Sergio was her ever present travel buddy and together they enjoyed going to Astros and Missions baseball games and traveling to Las Vegas. Later he became her caregiver.
Delia is survived by her sons Sergio and Carlos (Monica) and her grandchildren, Diego, Fernando, and Lina. She is also survived by her brothers Inez and Ignacio and her sister Lucy. They along with their families mourn the loss of their sister.
Delia should be remembered as a happy, fun loving, classy lady. Although she suffered through many health challenges throughout her life, her friends and family take consolation in the fact that she is no longer in pain and is resting in our Lord's arms along with Al and her parents.
We are asking that you wear pink to the Rosary in honor of her victory over Breast Cancer and yellow, her favorite color, to the Funeral Mass. If you are unable to attend, please take a moment to remember her in prayer.
